Designed shortly after the covering of the Rozelle Court at the
Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City, this project was concieved as a
commemoration of that special outdoor experience, with a courtyard of
similar size, which bank chairman R. Crosby Kemper, Jr. uses to great
advantage for special civic events. Commissioned at a time when downtown
Kansas City was losing vitality and building stock, this project completely
fills its site in traditional full use of urban real estate. Foundations
for the future 25-story tower are in place awaiting the bank's expansion
plans.
